It's time once again for our regular game of 'musical chairs'.
If ever proof were needed that London is a volatile radio market just take a look at the chart for % Share (of listening) where you'll see seven stations jostling for position within less than a single perecentage point.

It's also worth pointing out that, overall there seems to have been a drop year on year for most stations.
Capital continues to be top of the table at Breakfast with a strong challenge from Global stablemate Nick Ferrari on LBC 97.3
Absolute Radio has also done well across weekdays and on Saturday mornings, although it seems football on Saturday afternoons is perhaps polarising the audience.
Regular readers will know of my fascination with the way LBC 97.3 dominates the hours between 2200 - 0700; beating many of the top music stations in the process. Looking at the individual 'segment' figures for that period this continues to be the case with the main night-time programmes consolidating their position.

As usual I issue my standard 'health
warning' about not taking a single quarter's figures in isolation - a
year-on-year comparison is the better one - you'll find the charts for
Q4/2011 here and Q3/2012 here.
There is also, as always, some excellent coverage and commentary from Matt Deegan (who has compiled some excellent facts and figures) and Adam Bowie, as well as Media UK and Radio Today.

"Global Radio’s ILR reach has declined every quarter since Q2/2011"
ReplyDeleteTime to bring back some of the 'heritage stations' ? No, sorry, "the horse has bolted" .... and is now burgers.
