Mancunian Way

"Why don't you look at some of the other cities' Rajars?" is something I'm occasionally asked and, once again, I'm happy to oblige.

Last time it was Birmingham so this time I've turned my attention to Manchester.

Unlike London, where all of the major stations share the same TSA and make it possible to do a straight comparison, other major markets are not so favourable.  The city's main stations all  have different-sized, TSAs, while Real and Smooth are regionals and cover a much larger part of the North West.

What I have done, though, is to take a look at the general performance of stations within the TSA of Key 103 in order to make a proper like-with-like comparison.

Because of this I'm unable to do the same hourly breakdown as for London, so this time I've done it by 'dayparts' instead.

  1. Interesting to see how well Xfm performs here. Clearly the markets are different and a like-for-like comparison isn't fair, but it performs better than Gold, where you can almost offer a fair comparison. Thanks for doing this, very useful.
