This quarter's 'Gold Star' , and probably the big surprise, is the success of Kiss 100 - especially Rickie & Melvin at breakfast. This, plus the continuing success of Magic 105.4, puts Bauer's two London stations in a dominant position during the day.
It's also another strong performance from LBC 97.3, especially during a quarter that included the general election, with a good showing from Nick Ferrari at Breakfast. The station continues to rule the late-night and overnight hours.
A couple of other notable standouts include Christian O'Connell on Absolute Radio and Tony Blackburn's Saturday breakfast show on Smooth.

Christian O'Connell and Tony Blackburn may show an upward blip during their shows, but are a long way behind the leaders at that time.
ReplyDeleteLBC listeners get up very early at the weekends, don't they.
ReplyDeleteLBC rules with Clive Bull and Anthony Davies on the weekday night times. No wonder they wear the London crown.
ReplyDelete...An equally strong performance on weekend overnights for LBC. I'm really warming to the ways of Nick Margerisson.
ReplyDeleteWith Smooth, is it not the case that Tony Blackburn held up better than the rest of the schedule, so he looks good by comparison? Smooth are down 1/3 year on year and about 15% vs last quarter. This must be the worst book ever for them?
ReplyDeleteMost of the press coverage has been about Evans losing 1m listeners. Is it possible to say where they went. I recall last Q there was a churn of older listeners who largely went to BBC locals and new listeners in the 25-44 age range who brought Evans up. What is the 1m churn this quarter composed of - are the older listeners still going or has Evans lost across the age ranges?
